Mr. Ishfaq Hussain
Gilgit-Baltistan is a region of extraordinary natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, diverse mountain ecosystems, and resilient communities. From its glaciers, forests, and rivers to its traditional livelihoods and unique biodiversity, the region holds immense potential for sustainable development. However, climate change, natural disasters, environmental degradation, limited livelihood opportunities, and challenges faced by remote communities require collective attention and long-term solutions.
At Mountain Communities and Nature Partnership (MCNP), our vision is to promote a balanced approach to community development and environmental conservation. We aim to work with local communities, government departments, NGOs, INGOs, and development partners to support sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, forest and wildlife conservation, women’s empowerment, and community well-being. We believe that local knowledge, community participation, and professional expertise are essential for achieving meaningful and lasting change.
MCNP aspires to serve as a platform for collaboration, research, capacity building, and innovative development initiatives tailored to the needs of Gilgit-Baltistan. By strengthening partnerships and encouraging responsible use of natural resources, we hope to contribute to a future where communities prosper while the region’s unique natural heritage is protected for generations to come.
Together, we can build stronger communities and a more sustainable future for Gilgit-Baltistan.
Ms. Gulbaz
Women are the backbone of families and communities, and their empowerment is essential for the sustainable development of Gilgit-Baltistan. Women across our region contribute significantly to agriculture, livestock management, handicrafts, household economies, and community life. However, many women, particularly in remote mountain villages, continue to face barriers to education, skills development, financial independence, and participation in decision-making.
At Mountain Communities and Nature Partnership (MCNP), I believe that empowering women means creating opportunities for them to develop their skills, strengthen their livelihoods, access resources, and take active leadership roles in their communities. Our aim is to promote women’s economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, vocational training, financial awareness, and meaningful participation in local development initiatives.
I strongly believe that women should be recognized not only as beneficiaries of development but also as leaders, decision-makers, and agents of positive change. By supporting women-led initiatives, encouraging equal opportunities, and building partnerships with local institutions and development organizations, MCNP aims to contribute to stronger families, resilient communities, and inclusive development throughout Gilgit-Baltistan.
My vision is to help create a society where every woman, regardless of her location or circumstances, has the confidence, opportunities, and support to realize her potential and contribute to the social and economic progress of her community.
“When women are empowered, communities grow stronger and the future becomes more promising for everyone.”
